Minutes of Board Meeting, June 27, 2009
at the pool
Present: Board Members Joe Bergen, Tom Cwik, Muriel Horacek, John Kim, Scott Swanson
Scott called the meeting to order at 4:05 PM
The minutes of the May 21 Board meeting were approved.
--there are few dues in arrears
--projects that are under-funded are balanced out by several that were over-funded.
--brush clearance is almost complete
--Jose Toribio submitted an estimate of $878 to remove the bamboo on the west side of the pool fence; the Board approved it by email
--we have not yet received approval from the county for new pumps to meet requirements of Virginia Graham Baker Safety Act
--The Mesa Board received a letter from the attorney of Mesa resident Bruce Miller via the Management Emporium. Letter requested additional watering of the Miller hillside. Board discussed and voted to maintain current schedule. A letter will be composed explaining the long-standing history of turning off irrigation on Mesahillsides. The Hillside Maintenance Policy that was developed and the plan for the Miller hillside will be included.
--The Board has no objection to the request by Mesa resident Daniel Levin to install solar panels on his roof as long as proper permits are obtained from the City of LaCanada and their immediate neighbors are notified.
--since plastic candy wrappers and other food remnants have been found in and around the pool, an additional garbage can will be purchased to make it easier for swimmers to deposit their trash
--new batteries were installed to no avail, so a new pool clock will be purchased
--light bulbs for the overhead lights outside each restroom will be replaced
Pool/Tennis Area Rules:
--additional violations of pool rules that will be subject to a fine will be playing with pool safety equipment and throwing rocks or other items into the pool
--skateboarding on the tennis courts is strictly forbidden
--we will ask for suggestions and/or volunteers before deciding on the BBQ
The next meeting of the Board will be on Saturday, July 25 at 4:00 PM at the pool
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 PM.
