Minutes of the

Starlight Mesa Homeowners’ Association

Board of Governors’ Meeting

 May 16, 2006

At the home of Michael Durfee

Present:  Michael Durfee, Muriel Horacek, Bill Imbriale, Jodie Kendall, Hank Smither

            Guest: Hanjoo Kim

The Board informed Hanjoo Kim of the desire to have a Korean BBQ on September 9th, and asked if he would investigate the cost and types of food available.  He agreed and left after this discussion.

The minutes of the April 16th meeting were approved.

  1. Jodie reported that she was able to get a 10% discount on the submitted pool contract, but with the additional tile work the total cost is $25,100 + the cost of a water leveler which the Board later approved.   A blue tile was chosen from the samples Jodie presented. It is estimated that the pool will be ready for swimming on June 9th.   The treasurer was asked to pay 1/3 of the contract at this time.
  2. Hank presented estimates from Jose for new plantings in various common areas.  The Board approved new plants for the left side of the entrance to the Mesa, and for the “Starlight Mesa” sign to be painted.  The right side will be planted after discussion with the nearby homeowner for watering access.
  3. At the Board’s request, Steve Gutierrez of SMG was asked to present a proposal to improve the appearance of Starlight Mesa landscaping.  It was decided to invite Steve to our next Board meeting for further discussion.
  4. It was agreed that the three lights on the restroom wall at the pool should be on from 7:30 PM to 2 AM.  They previously shut off at midnight.  Jodie was asked to have four additional flood lights with motion sensors installed, three at the pool and one by the tennis court area.
  5. Hank reported that the evening of November 15th has been reserved at La Cañada Country Club for the Starlight Mesa annual meeting.  Cost will be $9.95 per person + $1.95 per drink, plus $50 for the room rental.
  6. An estimate for resurfacing the pool deck has been submitted for $20,000.  No action was taken.
  7. Jose has submitted an estimate of $19,620 for brush clearance of our common areas.  The fire department has been contacted and they have agreed that this can wait until the rainy weather is over.
  8. The next meeting of the Board will be June 13th at the home of Hank Smither and the following one July 18th at the home of Muriel Horacek.

Respectfully submitted,

Muriel Horacek
