Minutes of Special Board Meeting, February 21, 2010

at 1:00 PM at the home of Muriel Horacek

Present:  Joe Bergen, Muriel Horacek, John Kim, Scott Swanson, and Steven Low

There was a discussion of the pros and cons of the submitted plans for 5209 Diamond Point Road.

The merits of the Tudor design and the size of the extension were discussed.  The Board felt that the extension out the back was not a problem or the Tudor design despite some personal dislike.  The Board felt it should not tell homeowners which design style they could implement.

There was a discussion of the roof height.  The Board felt that a 20-foot roofline for a single-story house was unusual, excessive and not keeping with the design concepts of the Mesa.

There was a discussion of the original design of Starlight Mesa, which included how two-story and single-story homes were built next to each other with offset setbacks.  This offset setback along with other design elements such as roof height gave all homeowners a sense of seclusion in their own yards despite the close proximity of the adjacent house.

The suggested wording of a letter to Deuk Lee and his architect, Sam Oh, was discussed.

A letter would be drawn up denying approval on the grounds of roof-height and presented at the regular Board meeting on February 27 for Board approval.
