STARLIGHT MESA HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION

Minutes January 3, 2011 Board Meeting,

7:30 PM at the home of Dirk Heinrich

Present:  Joe Bergen, Mary Freeman, Dirk Heinrich, Muriel Horacek, Jenny Kong

The minutes from the December 9 Joint Board meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Mary reported that she informed Adrian to send signature cards to Muriel.  Adrian emailed the Board that Mesa checks are being received for the January 1st payment.

--The recent burglary of a home west of the Mesa entrance was discussed.  It was suggested that occasional warnings by email newsletter will remind residents to lock their cars and houses, and to inform their neighbors when they are out of town.

--Speeding cars, particularly going south on Starlane then west towards Stardust, were discussed.  Since most of the traffic around that corner is driven by the Mesa community, the board reached a consensus that the best solution is to raise the awareness of Mesa residents.  Jenny will ask concerned residents (mainly families with small children) to draft a letter requesting residents to slow down. Dirk will look into a cautionary “Children At Play” sign near that corner.

--Dirk reported that he repaired the railing on the stairs to the tennis court, which was broken when a tree fell across it.  He also cut off the rusting sprinkler pipes along the stairs.

--The Board unanimously approved $5200 for tree trimming at the putting green, to take place in late January.

--Joe reported that pampas grass on the hill near the pool is being removed and the hillside maintenance planting is proceeding.  The planting and renovation of the irrigation system at the pool entrance is proceeding as well.

--The Board decided that when mulch is delivered for use on the hillside, residents would be invited by email to take some for personal use.

--At Mary’s suggestion, the Board discussed the possibility of fruit trees being planted on Mesa common areas.

--A tire swing for the Children’s Park at the corner of Starlight Crest and Starlight Mesa was discussed.

--It was agreed that the Board should clarify the Mesa renovation approval policy.  There will be further discussion at the next meeting.

The next meeting of the Board will be at 7:30 PM, Thursday, February 17, at the home of Muriel Horacek.
